Race Day Information

Hello Swimmers, Families and Friends,

We are just a few days away from the 2nd Annual Last Gasp of Summer Open Water Swim (1 Mile/2 Mile) on Saturday, September 22nd @ 10:00am at beautiful Angle Lake in Seatac, Washington. http://www.lastgaspofsummer.com

Registration begins at 8:30 am and will end at 9:30am. The mandatory safety briefing will begin at 9:30am and the 2 mile race will start promptly at 10:00am with the 1 mile race starting 15 minutes later. The race cut-off is 11:30am so if you have not completed the race by this time we will need to remove you from the water for safety purposes.

If you want to make a change to your event, email registrar@bluewave-aquatic.com with your change before midnight, Sept 20th. No changes allowed on Friday. To change the day of the race, check in for the event you registered and then proceed to the Change Table. No changes after 9:30 am.

The water temperature is currently in 68 degrees and we are expecting some very nice weather. Wetsuits are permitted for the race.

The 1 mile rectangular course will be marked with large buoys and you can access the course map on the website listed above. Motor boats, kayaks and lifeguards will be located along the course. Swimmers must wear the swim caps furnished at check-in.

Safety details available at http://www.lastgaspofsummer.com/safety.aspx

Electronic Timing and Finish Line will be provided by Bu Du Racing so all participants will be issued a timing chip for your ankle at registration. Lost or unreturned timing chips will result in a $25.00 fee.

All registered swimmers will receive a towel with the Last Gasp of Summer logo, a logo cap and there will prizes for top finishers in each age group. We will also be awarding the overall top Male/Female finisher gift certificates for some of the local restaurants/businesses.

Awards will begin at 11:45am and lunch will be served immediately following the awards presentation. We encourage you to bring family members along to enjoy the picnic lunch of hot dogs, hamburgers, salads and more. There is a very large sandy beach to spread out and catch some rays. We are also requesting donations for the picnic for those family members not registered to swim.

Directions/Parking:

From I-5: Take the South 188th St exit (#152); drive west 1 mile; turn left onto International Blvd (aka Pacific Highway South); drive south .5 miles; turn left on South 195th St into the park. Plenty of free parking in the main lot and we have arranged overflow parking at the Alaska Airlines corporate offices just a few minute walk north of the park entrance. We look forward to seeing you Saturday, September 22nd.
